My Top 5 Movies/TV Shows for Cheering Up

You know when you’re having a bad day? Or you feel a little sad? Or it’s just a rainy, gloomy day and you need to get out of your head?

I get like that sometimes. (Especially when I try to write some songs and can’t figure anything out.) I usually go to some of my favorite pick-me-up movies and laugh, cry, and quote them word for word!

5. 27 Dresses

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen this movie. Especially if I’m upset because I think I’ll be alone forever, Katherine Heigl just has a magical way of making me feel better. Even more so because she worries a lot, and I also worry a lot. So watching her worry in the movie, makes me worry for her, which makes me forget about what I was worrying about. (And then I start laughing because that’s ridiculous! ?)

Although not a movie, Gilmore Girls is a great tv show4. Gilmore Girls (TV show)

What a masterpiece of a show. If you like quick, witty, sarcastic comments this is the show for you. I binged watched all seven seasons in about a month and a half. I watched this so quickly I started to BECOME the show. Like, I had a witty answer for everything anyone said to me. (That is not normal for me, most of the time I think of comebacks 3 weeks too late.) I’m not lying, I was also generally happier from watching the show all the time. 10/10 recommend!

3. Friday Night Lights (TV show)

Now this one isn’t a comedy; I would say it’s a dramady. Almost every episode makes me cry over something, whether it’s happy crying, surprised crying, frustrated crying, laugh crying or sometimes sad crying. (I didn’t know there was so many types of crying before I watched this show!) Personally, I love getting really connected to a show because I feel like I’m part of their world. So, everytime I watch an episode I can escape into it and forget about my life for a little bit.

And, bonus, now I kinda understand football—even though I was in my high school’s marching band for 4 years, so you think I would know by now. GO DILLON PANTHERS woot woot!!

2. A Cinderella Story

I can quote this movie LIKE A CHAMP. And I mean, come on, early-2000s Chad Michael Murray. (Do I have to say anything else?)

castle from the movie "Cinderella" 1. Cinderella (2015)

I’ve seen this about 20 times since it came out. I love THIS ENTIRE movie: the colors, the costumes, the expanded storyline, the directing by Kenneth Branagh. And Lily James and Richard Madden are the perfect casting in this movie. Everything they say is just magical.

(Fun Fact: I saw this in theaters with my dad and we were the oldest father and daughter there, but I think we were also the most excited. We kept whispering to each other “oh my goshhhh just look at that dress” “this is so BEAUTIFUL” “these colors are perrrrrfeccct!!” And even now when it’s on TV my dad and I will drop everything and watch it.)

I know we can all use cheering up sometimes! What other shows would you add to the list?

From,

Me 😀
